New Publishing Dates:

As many of you know, technical difficulties have pushed back our publishing date to Fall 2011, we at Muse Cafe Publications plan to debut our first batch of books by November 18th, 2011, thus making them available for purchase at last! We have six wonderful authors who will be offering a variety of genre ranging from poetry and art to a bit of fiction and sci fi.

New Website Changes:

Starting in October 2011, Muse Cafe Publications will begin to offer interesting articles several times per week. We will be sharing writing tips, tricks, and lessons as well as writing prompts and journaling exercises to help you generate new ideas and subject matter for your poetic endeavors!

We will also soon offer some free downloadable ebooks full of helpful quotations and information to aid you in making the most of your writing time and expand upon your potential.

We are dedicated to helping you be your best writer so please check back very soon!

Muse Poetry Review

Muse Poetry Review is a monthly online poetry magazine and stands as a by product to a larger small press publisher, Muse Cafe Publications.

We strive to showcase 2-5 poets per month. We hope to display a sample of each poets work, 1-5 pieces.

Since this is a "poetry" review, we are accepting submissions for poetry and prose only.

We accept all types and forms of poetry but are quite fond of free verse.

Please do not send offensive material, simple greeting card prose, or angsty immature ramblings. We are quite open about content and encourage strong visuals, descriptions, and just good quality writing which can evoke emotions and mental images while entertaining....after all, that's what poetry is for. We want to take our readers to a new place, engulf them in an atmosphere, perhaps another state of mind, let them experience someone else's memories.

GUIDELINES:

Please send 1-5 poems along with a bio of 100 words or less. A picture of yourself is optional but invited.

We respond to all submissions within 6 weeks, usually much sooner. However, if you have submitted and you have not heard back within a six week time period, please feel free to inquire.

We're so glad you found your way here.

Muse Cafe Publications is a newly launched (May 2010) independent small press publisher. We strive to find a home for the completed manuscripts of poets, artists, novelists and wrtiers in general.

We consist of a several writers/artists who are much like yourself (if you are a writer seeking publication of a manuscript) and understand what it means to a dedicated writer to have their work accepted and published into book format.

Our first batch of books will launch in late November of 2011. There will be a total of 6 authors for the Fall of 2011. Every season after that, we will publish only 6 books per season. Please see the following information.

We plan to publish up to six books per season:

Summer - August

Fall - November

Winter - February

Spring - May

Please Note: We may accept and hold your submissions for a future season. Meaning, if you send a manuscript in January and we already have six manuscripts for that publishing period, we will offer to hold your manuscript and then pubish in May.

We strive for, and expect a quick turn around and will not spend months in reformatting, correcting, and so on. We spend a few weeks to a month in preparing a manuscript for publication, as we accept submissions to be a 'final product of correction.'

Muse Cafe Publications is comprised of several fellow poets/artists who are seasoned of the small press pubishing process:

Because we are writers, ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to find a proper press as venue for showcasing our work. And, like other fellow poets and writers, we work hard. Here at Muse Cafe Publications our main purpose is to serve as a sound, respectable small press publisher for known and lesser known poets and writers.

Most of our work is nonprofit, meaning we never charge you fees for any of our work. Meaning, this is not a vanity press devised to 'get rich quick.' We are not here to make a 'living' from others' work. However, we are here to: showcase, promote, print, distribute, and work alongside talented writers in perhaps getting their name (and work) better known.

For starters, we don't charge anything up front. Actually, we never charge you anything at all! Not even a reading fee! You never give us anything out of your pocket. Let that be an introduction of the goodness we strive to provide here for fellow writers.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS!!!

Muse Cafe Publications is a small press publisher that stives to publish both amateur and professional poets.

We publish under one of two venues:

1. Muse Poetry Review: Which is a monthly poetry review for which we publish several works from up to 2-6 poets.

2. A Book Publisher: Every quarter we publish books from up to 6 authors.

Please read below for book submission guidelines and see the links above for more information concerning submissions and guidelines!

GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPTS:

Muse Cafe Publications accepts submissions YEAR ROUND. We strive to produce a small press publishing venue for both known and unknown writers. So, whether you are a seasoned poet or have just written your first collection, we are interested in reviewing your completed manuscript (if you are interested in publishing it).

PLEASE READ THESE GUIDELINES:

1. We accept submissions of manuscripts for poetry, short stories, essays, novellas, novels and prose.

2. Book length can be anywhere from 24 pages to 250 pages. If you have written a novel, exceptions can be made as novels can sometimes exceed 250 pages.

3. DO NOT send me a book that has previously been published somewhere else (UNLESS I HAVE SOLICITED IT FROM YOU)! You can send a book full of pieces that have been published in various sites/magazines/etc. but I do not and WILL NOT re-publish a book which has been previously published elsewhere.

4. Muse Cafe Publications DOES NOT CHARGE for the publishing of your book, unless you wish to add extra buying options.

5. Muse Cafe Publications WILL edit, compile, and convert your manuscript as well as provide a FULL COLOR front and back cover.

6. PLEASE SEND ALL SUBMISSIONS in Word (preferred) or microsoft works document form with a title (or at least a working title) and your full name to musecafepress@gmail.com

7. IN YOUR EMAIL TITLE please put "BOOK SUBMISSION" and then your last name. This really goes a long way in allowing me to weed out your manuscript from getting lost in all the junk mail.

8. If your manuscript is accepted, we will further converse with you by email in terms of contract and so on.

9. MUSE CAFE PUBLICATIONS has also devised a plan for getting reviews for your books, so we will provide that option to you as well if your manuscript is accepted.

PLEASE ALLOW A 90 DAY READING/REVIEWING PERIOD, AS READING A HIGH NUMBER OF MANUSCRIPTS IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME IS DIFFICULT.

IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM US AFTER 90 DAYS, PLEASE INQUIRE AS TO THE STATUS OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION.
